Academic semester regular hours: Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. We are closed on all University holidays and emergency/weather related closures.
Liberty University Health Services is located in Commons 3.
If you have an urgent need during off and/or weekend hours, you can call our office # to be connected with the physician on-call, go to the nearest emergency department or dial 911 from your phone. If you have an emergency after hours and are located on campus, contact LUPD at (434) 582-3911. If you need non-emergency medical care after hours, there are a number of immediate care facilities that can be utilized. Students are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from these medical office locations.
All charges for excluded services will be personally covered by the patient. Excluded services include visits to CVFP Diagnostic or Immediate Care centers or the emergency room, hospitalizations, inpatient care, fiberglass casts, splints, DME, allergy shots, B12 injections, all vaccines/immunizations (influenza vaccine only one included in health fee), services performed outside the Student Health Center, specialist services, or counseling above the allotted six visits per year.
For the convenience of our patients, charges for services not covered under the new student health fee program will be billed directly to the student’s primary health insurance through CVFP Medical Group’s central billing office.
Liberty University Student Health Center is for the use of registered LU students who have paid the Student Health fee.
During the academic year, appointments can only be scheduled in person for the current day. During the summer, you may schedule an appointment via phone. You can visit the Student Health Center an unlimited amount of times. Seeing the same provider when there are multiple visits for ongoing medical issues ensures continuity of care. General office visits are appropriate for most conditions, but our providers will make appropriate referrals to outside specialists.
The services offered at LUSHC are provided by licensed physicians, midlevel providers, nurses, health navigators, and counselors who are committed to caring for you and your health.
Students are seen on a walk-in basis in the order of medical urgency, not the order of arrival.
No, your student must sign a Medical Release or give verbal permission to LUSHC for us to discuss that specific appointment. This is not a blanket release; your student must give permission for each visit or diagnosis.
We suggest your son or daughter visit the health center and pick up a Student Health Center brochure which lists services and contact information. It is important for them to know their own health history: allergies to medications and foods, significant family medical history, medication list (including doses, frequency, and purpose). Make sure they carry a copy of their health insurance card with them at all times, and that they know what coverage they have and how to contact the insurance company. Be sure they have turned in their Health Record form to Student Health Services. (For pertinent medical history, attach copy of records from the treating physician.) Share with them the basics of how to make an appointment: describe symptoms, duration and severity of symptoms, any medications taken, temperature, etc.
The length of time it takes to complete a visit varies depending on the reason for the visit. While most visits lengths are about 15 minutes, you must add the time it takes to check in and do other tasks related to the visit, such as lab tests, X-rays or other procedures.
All medical care at the Student Health Center is confidential. Health care records are completely separate from all other university records. Student Health Services staff members confer with one another as needed to provide integrated medical care for you. Otherwise, Student Health Services will not release any information about you without your written permission, except for regulatory or quality assurance audits or as authorized or required by law, or as necessary in our judgment to protect you or others from a serious threat to health or safety. If a patient wishes to allow a release of information from his/her records, the Authorization for Disclosure of Protected Health Information is available on our patient forms page.
